Christmas Cross

55 degrees and rain on Sat. Perfect for Christmas Cross, your favorite skinsuit and baby oil!

How about 10am in the Bulter Hinkle Fieldhouse parking lot?

There will be 2 slow re-con loops. The course will feature some of the "Turkey Cross" trails along with 2 big run ups: hills and stairs. This course will offer a little of everything: technical trails, running, stair climbing, descending skills and top end speed on the pavement. This will not be a closed course. Part of the course crosses over the canal path, please be careful with the walkers/runners. With school being out at Butler, traffic should be to a minimum however be careful as some of the course is on the campus roads.

Look forward to seeing everyone there! Rain or shine!

Hoosier Hiatus

Hoosier Cross will take a brief hiatus as many key riders are out of town or their bikes are down for repairs. Additionally, the course has suffered some irreparable damage, as some of Ravenswood’s finest have used the cross course for their off-road adventures.

Stay tuned....

Jason "Flashpoint" Smith Stamps Name on Hoosier Cross

October 25, 2007

Jason “Flashpoint” Smith removed all doubt as to his cyclocross prowess, crushing the competition on his way to a glorious victory Wednesday evening. Smith rolled out fast setting a brutal pace that last week's champion, Ernesto Calderin, could not keep. Smith was seen chatting it up with course designer, Andy Paskins, as he lapped the master racer just after the barriers on the 6th lap.

Jason "Ain't Racin'" Fowler could not keep up with the leaders despite his much improved footwork over the barriers. Fowler cried foul after the race, claiming that fellow podium finishers Smith and Calderin cut the sandbox portion of the course.

MVG took the most improved rider award, rolling to fourth place, just off the podium.

Crouse further established himself as the dominant force in the single speed division with a 200 point lead over his closest competitor.

Matt Wilson chose some of the more interesting lines of the evening, reversing the course on a couple of occasions to find the faster line.

Wednesday's race was highlighted by the new barrier section strategically placed before the run-up. The course marshals and neutral support vehicles (quads) made themselves known while running amuck through the course and laying waste to the helmetless Mike Lance’s podium chances.

Ernesto Calderin Wins First Hoosier Cross

October 18th, 2007

Ernesto Calderin stomped the competition in the first Wednesday Night Hoosier Cross race, laying down the gauntlet for what is sure to be an exciting fall and winter series. Donning a bargain basement Zipp Team Kit and bandages, Ernie mocked the competition, rolling to victory on 2.5 inch tires. With a late season marred by Tom Danielson like illnesses and mishaps, the fast Asian dude brought his A game for the series opener. “I took two days off in order to be well rested for this event. What can I say, I just had great legs today.”

Jason Fowler captured second place aided by the mechanical misfortunes of Jason “Mr. Flashpoint” Smith. Fowler’s bike seemed to have an allergic reaction to the non-paved sections of the course, thoroughly confusing the pre-race favorite and his Scott machine.

Jesse Garcia, super domestique for team MVG, rounded out the podium. Charlie Crouse road in style to fourth while Mark Van Gemert captured a hard earned 5th. While Van Gemert couldn’t be reached for comment, his race seemed to be highlighted by the 25 ft. rooster tails through the litter box section of the course.

Master course designer Andy Paskins held on for 6th place, adding another top 10 to his impressive resume. “I proved tonight that I’ve been successful in achieving my season goals….I was really concerned about going into winter with too much fitness. It’s very apparent that I have been able to get rid of that excess baggage.”

Hoosier Cross on Wednesday Nights

73rd and Crittenden – abandon elementary school lot (Behind Knights of Columbus).

6:00 – 2 practice/recon laps
6:15 – 7:00 “Race Pace”

We’ll keep it casual, as this is the first ever Hoosier Cross. The course is still in the “design phase” but it has a ton of potential w/meadows, sand pit (volleyball court), wooded trails, and pavement.

Ride your mountain bike if you don’t have a cyclocross bike. If ATVs are present in the wooded trail we will alter the course to accommodate them.

Ride at your own risk.
